Lily has lost her damn mind
You know what was really lost on me as a child playing this game? The humor behind Lyle and the whole insurance gag. Back then, I just thought he was an annoying and useless character. Which was/is true. But as a grown adult who lives in the real world and overpays for insurance (which hardly covers anything), it really makes me smile every time I get stung and receive those letters with 100 bells. The fact that it’s only a fourth of the cost of medicine, sent in an untimely fashion, really shows you that Animal Crossing: Wild World was made with the people in mind. For Lyle’s sake, I hope he doesn’t wander over to Luigi’s Mansion. (...bad joke?)
Anyway, I wanted to make a unique town flag, so I tried to replicate the cover art of one of my favorite albums, “Miracle Mile” by STRFKR. But it looked like complete ass, so I scrapped it.
Instead I copied this design from the internet and was shocked that it came out so well. I would eventually like to design something special for Amori, but for now, I think this will do.
As always, I have a few grievances to share about some of the villagers.
First of all, Bree will NOT stop yapping about collecting white furniture. It is basically the only thing she wants to talk about. I have a few working theories:
A. She is shedding and trying to hide it. I can’t help but notice that she has white fur…so it would make sense. Maybe she’s taking new meds? Or is it stress from verbally abusing Lily all day? Poor girl.
B. She has to replace it again and again because the hell hound she’s keeping in her house is destroying it (see the red doghouse).
But at least Bree lets me in her house so I can make these speculations. You know who is NEVER at home? Lily. Seriously, not once have I been inside her house. What is she hiding? Based on this conversation I heard her having with Victoria about her “friend” who is a mop, I’m a little bit worried about her…
Then there are the boys in town, who continue to stun me with their lack of social graces.
But I do still have a soft spot for Frobert. He sent me this letter asking me on a soup date…I think. And he’s been wearing all the shirts I give him. He even dropped this line on me right before he changed into one of them. Frobert, you little tease.
The final 3 villagers that moved into town are Derwin, Tabby, and Buck. Derwin is a lazy blue duck who looks like the last phase of an Animorphs transformation that started with Chucky Finster. I’m kind of indifferent. He’s cute, but his look doesn’t quite have that “guy who’s always stoned” charm of some lazy villagers.
As for Tabby, I’m learning to love her. I wanted a cat villager, but was hoping for someone like Kiki or Rosie. But…Tabby is interesting. Her personality says “fun party girl” while her face says “guilty toddler who just got caught playing with her mom’s makeup”. I think we’re going to be friends.
Buck…sigh. Obviously this is my punishment from the Nintendo gods for saying that I don’t like horse villagers. When will I learn?
I have 70,000 bells left to pay on my second loan. I’m doing something I never did as a kid, and feeding my gambling addiction by buying/selling turnips. It’s not Blackhawk, Colorado, but the thrill is still there. Hopefully it'll pay off.
Besides, my luck continues-Nook was selling a lovely dresser at his store today! Which is going to be closed yet AGAIN tomorrow. Bad timing, since a bunch of fish and bugs will start being in season, and I’ll have to keep all the extra critters in my house. I’m glad the health department doesn’t exist in Animal Crossing, or else I’m sure a horrified Happy Room Academy representative would make the call.
XOXO,
Chilly
As a kid, I never understood Lyle's purpose, so I have to agree on the fact that the ACWW devs had a tiiiiiiiny smidge of humor that would apply to the real world.
ReplyDeleteP.S : The stalk market can be stingy. Don't fly too close to the sun, and stay humble!
Yeahhh I bought 100 for 98 bells each, and so far Nook's selling prices have been in the 60's and 70's. :/ My plan is to sell if the price is anything over 98, or on Saturday and I'll take the loss, lol.
Deleteout of curiosity, besides Wild World, ever play New Horizon or Pocket Camp?
ReplyDeleteYes! I've played all the games except Happy Room Academy (although I haven't played much Pocket Camp). But lately I've just been playing the original on Gamecube and Wild World, because I miss the simplicity and the villager dialogue.
