I was planning on posting an update after Lily and Frobert gave me their photos, so I could make a joke about being the “frog queen”, or something. I do think it would be a fun long-term goal to collect all the frog villager photos and make a “frog room”, complete with lily-pad tables and froggy chairs. Anyway, I waited too long, and two days ago Tabby also gave me her photo. I actually can’t remember if I ever received a villager pic when I was little. I know that I definitely wanted to get Goldie’s, since I was obsessed with her. But I had what I’m going to call “loading screen brain” (untreated ADHD), so I don’t think I ever locked in enough to meet that goal. Another thing that I’m trying to do, now that I’m a medicated adult, is making my town actually look good. I found a path design that I like, which is a good start. To me it always felt wrong laying down an actual road-looking-ass road, so this is a game changer. The one thing I’m still struggling with, though, is planting tre...

Bye, Filly-sha

Get it? Because she’s a horse? I'm really funny, guys. Anyway, I guess sometimes dreams really do come true. Victoria is gone, ladies and gentlemen! And all it took was a good old-fashioned silent treatment and one time where I pushed her until she got really pissed. Nibbles, a cute teal squirrel, has moved into town to take her place. The only downside is that the flea market is tomorrow, and Victoria had a lovely loveseat in her house I wanted to buy. It’s from Group A, which I’m pretty certain is the rarest item group in my town. So...bad timing. BUT-in a twist of fate, I did slingshot down a lovely bed! I couldn’t believe it. Here is a fairly recent house update (it still looks like sh*t, though): I want to give my goldfish (see bottom left) a name and make a fun little area for him. I’m thinking “Orangey”, a tribute to Trailer Park Boys. Speaking of, I paid off my second loan with pockets full of pricey fish and bugs! I wish someone had told me that was the key to making bells...

Lily has lost her damn mind

You know what was really lost on me as a child playing this game? The humor behind Lyle and the whole insurance gag. Back then, I just thought he was an annoying and useless character. Which was/is true. But as a grown adult who lives in the real world and overpays for insurance (which hardly covers anything), it really makes me smile every time I get stung and receive those letters with 100 bells. The fact that it’s only a fourth of the cost of medicine, sent in an untimely fashion, really shows you that Animal Crossing: Wild World was made with the people in mind. For Lyle’s sake, I hope he doesn’t wander over to Luigi’s Mansion. (...bad joke?) Anyway, I wanted to make a unique town flag, so I tried to replicate the cover art of one of my favorite albums, “Miracle Mile” by STRFKR. But it looked like complete ass, so I scrapped it.                         Instead I copied this design from the internet and was shocked that it c...

New poisonous love interest?

It turns out Elvis is not such a king after all. After our first date, he sent me a letter with a present attached, as is the formality. It was an ECONO-CHAIR. Really, dude? You have the money for two  thrones. That's 1.6 million bells. And you send me economy furniture? What a f*ckboy.  And I think he's into some shady business, anyway, judging by this letter he showed me. What does he know...? Anyway, I paid off my loan and got a house upgrade! It doesn't really make a huge difference, space-wise, if we're being honest. But Bree gave me a blue bureau which definitely helped. Still, you gotta love how ugly and disjointed your home decor looks in the early game, when you barely have anything. The mismatched colors? The two froggy chairs (both found in the recycling bin)? The sea bass that I can't get rid of because the store is closed? The giant pantheon column just chilling in the front? Perfection. We also got two new villagers, who both shockingly decided to buil...

Guess who’s back…back again…

Well, it's been 20 years since I first took a ride in this taxi!  Let me tell you something: you could not have convinced 10-year-old me that this guy is supposed to be a turtle. I genuinely thought, without a trace of doubt, that he was a green parrot. I mean, come on. The whole pirate thing he has going on? The yellow mouth (that I thought was a beak)? I was SHOCKED when I learned the truth years later. Keep in mind, this was the first game in the series I played, so this was the first version of Kapp'n I met. I think it was the hat covering up his kappa bald spot. And I was too dumb to question why none of the other birds in the game looked like him.  Anyway, after resetting my game a few times to get a good map, I landed on this one. I named the town Amori, which I thought sounded cute. Sounds like  amore,  Italian for “love”; additionally,  mori  means “forest” in Japanese (a little tribute to the original AC game). I really like the placement of my ho...
